In 1979, I began working at the Crystal Lake Health Food Store and immediately took a strong interest in nutrition. Learning under Bob Edwards, the founder, I read as much as I could and eventually became store manager. After many years of experience, working with our great customers and staff, I completed a degree of certified nutritionist in 2001. I truly enjoy what I do here at the store and wouldn’t trade it for anything! I live with my wife, Sue, in Crystal Lake and together we enjoy whitewater canoeing and skiing. The education I have received here, along with the people I have gotten to know and come to deeply care for, have helped to shape my way of life and my goals for the future. I have spent fifteen years working at this store, and during those years, I earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Carthage College and a master’s degree in anthropology from Northern Illinois University. I am currently pursuing a second master’s degree in public health, as well.
